Garland "Audi" Audilet, died September 29, 2015, at home in Bethesda, MD of leukemia. He was 83 years old. A native of Yorktown, TX, "Audi" joined the U.S. Navy in August 1949, at the age of 17, attending boot camp in CA. He passed the USNA entrance exam and went to the United States Naval Academy. He rowed Varsity Crew all four years at the academy. Audi graduated with the Class of '56 on June 1, 1956. Audi spent many years serving at sea on US destroyers, attending Naval Post Graduate School, and serving on submarines. He was married in 1956 to Lorraine Cronmiller Audilet, who died in 1967. They had two children (Allison and Alex). Audi retired from the Navy at the rank of Commander with 20 years of service (3 as an enlisted man and 17 as an officer after graduating from the Naval Academy). In 1971, Audi met Devereux (Devan) Oldfield and they married, adding two more children to the family. Audi's civilian career began in 1973 after earning an MBA from George Washington University. Audi retired as a business consultant in which he specialized in international data communications, specifically in Eastern Europe.Audi and Devan were season ticket holders to Navy football games. Audi enjoyed tailgating with fellow members of the Class of '56. Audi researched and authored a genealogy of his family name originating in Germany. Most of all, Audi enjoyed spending time with his family. Audi is survived by his wife of 44 years, Devan; children Allison, Alex, John, and Elizabeth, their families, and 13 grandchildren.A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 9200 Kentsdale Drive, Bethesda, MD on Saturday, October 3 at 10 a.m. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
