Is is with sadness that we report the passing of “Bill” Hagenmeyer Jr. on 24 December 2014 due to complications from a fractured hip sustained in a fall.

Born in Detroit, MI, on 5 May 1934, he graduated from Culver Military Academy before entering the U.S. Naval Academy in 1952.

After graduation in 1956, he entered the Air Force and received his wings at Marana AFB in Arizona. He then went on to basic training at Reese AFB in Texas and then to Randolph AFB in Texas for helicopter training. He was then stationed at Selfridge AFB in Michigan before being transferred to Moron AFB in Seville, Spain, where he served for three years.

Bill resigned from the Air Force in 1962 and went to work for Chrysler Corporation in Detroit. He received his master’s degree in automotive engineering from the Chrysler Institute in 1965 and continued work for Chrysler for 32 years. He spent nine years as the chief engineer for the Chrysler Plant in Valencia, Venezuela, before retiring in 1995.

Bill and Starr were married in 1957 and after retirement, they divided their time between their summer cottage at Higgins Lake, MI, and their winter home in Titusville, FL.

Bill's hobbies included travel, big-game hunting in Africa (3 safaris) and South America, boating and golf or as Bill put it, his most dangerous hobby.

Bill is survived by his wife, Starr; son, Bill; daughter, Starr Holland; stepsister, Betty Keppler; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
