Frank LeQuellec Ingram, died Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Scripps Green Hospital. He was diagnosed with cancer in May. He was born March 7, 1934, in Cincinnnati, Ohio, to Robert Ingram and Margaret Heckle. He grew up in Cincinnati, was graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in the Class of 1956, and served on the USS Kearsarge and submarines, before leaving active duty to remain in the Naval Reserves, eventually attaining the rank of captain.

Mr. Ingram married Elizabeth DuBois Taylor April 18, 1959, in Brielle, New Jersey. In 1961 their first child was born in Coronado, and that fall they moved to Bloomington, Indiana, where he began graduate studies in Russian language and literature at Indiana University, earning a doctorate degree in 1967. He then accepted a teaching position at Michigan State University, where he taught until 1996, repeatedly receiving high marks from students on all aspects of classes he taught, a point in which he took pride. From the time their children were small, Mr. and Mrs. Ingram took their family each summer to the Les Cheneaux Islands, where Mr. Ingram had spent summers during his youth. In 1972 he put his building skills to work, building the family cottage on Marquette Island. It was a gathering place for all 22 family members each summer, where they celebrated Mr. and Mrs. Ingram's 50th wedding anniversary in 2009.

In 1996 they retired to Coronado. In his retirement years, Mr. Ingram created many new and cherished experiences from his involvement with the Coronado Beer Club, Crown City Cyclists, alumni from his Naval Academy class, and friendships with neighbors and others. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; a son and his family, Michael and Ninia Ingram of Seattle, Washington; three daughters and their families, Nancy and Mike Johnson of Petoskey, Beth and Garrett Adams of Northampton, Massachusetts, and Amy and Dennis Donohue of East Grand Rapids, and 12 grandchildren.
