John Rhorer Legendre, 84, a native of New Orleans and resident of Thibodaux passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2016.

A visitation will be held on Saturday May 7, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Thibodaux from 8:30 am until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene Legendre, as well as daughters Leslie Mills (Dan) , GiGi Bonvillain (Ricky), Joanie and Jack (Heidi) and one sister, Myrtis Trowbridge. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Lesley Leblanc (Jordan), Tommy Bonvillain, Rhory and Mary Lynn Legendre, and Sara and Matt Mills.

Preceded in death by his parents Paul Joseph Legendre and Augusta(Gussie) Rhorer Legendre, brothers Waldo and Joe, sisters Catherine (Tiny) Toups.

John attended LSU, then graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland after which he served 3 years in the Navy. He enjoyed his career as a financial advisor and his many years volunteering at St. John Catholic Church. John loved visiting with his close extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Thibodaux in memory of John Legendre.
