WALLACE LINCOLN MOSSOP, JR, 81, of East Greenwich and Jamestown died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, May 14, 2015. He was the cherished husband of Terry (Upshaw) Mossop for 59 years. He was the son of the late Wallace Lincoln Mossop and Lillian Church Mossop. Link attended The Moses Brown School before graduating from Manlius Military Academy. He was a proud graduate of The United States Naval Academy, class of 1956. He continued his military career serving in Pensacola, Florida where he became a naval aviator. His military service extended through the 1960's and early 1970's in the naval reserve serving as a pilot. His allegiance to the Navy continued until the day he died. He was Chairman of the Board and Partner at the investment firm, Barrett and Company, in Providence, of which his father was a founding partner. He served on the board of The Boston Stock Exchange from 1986 to 1995. He also served on The Board of Governors of The National Association of Securities Dealers. In addition, Link was a Director of Parkway Properties, a publicly held real-estate investment trust. He also served as a member of the State of Rhode Island Public Finance Management board in 2010. Link's love of the sea began as a boy in Bristol, Rhode Island, where he grew up. He was a passionate and competitive sailor. He considered it a privilege to call Narragansett Bay his backyard. Link's sailing career ranged from sailing Lightenings to Etchells to his son's New York Swan 42. His affection for yachting brought him to serve on the board of The Herreshoff Marine Museum for many years. He became a member of The New York Yacht Club in 1974. Additionally, he was a member of The Conanicut Yacht Club, and for many years, The East Greenwich Yacht Club. He proudly served on The Naval War College Foundation as well as the Corporate Board of the USS Battleship Massachusetts Memorial Committee. Continuing in his commitment to the Navy he so loved, he was a trustee of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation and the Naval War College Foundation. An avid supporter of the Naval Academy Athletic Association, Link and his wife, Terry, twice accompanied the Academy's Football Team to the White House to witness the team's acceptance of the Commander- in- Chief's trophy. His service to the Rhode Island community included being the President of The Providence Boy's and Girl's Club from 1982-1985 and board member of the Providence Public Library. He generously supported Blithewold Mansion and Gardens and Linden Place, both in Bristol, Rhode Island. He was a member of a multi generational family that call Prudence Island home where he spent his happiest days. The Island, and his friends there, remain forever close to his heart. Link was bold in his Christian faith. His life was a witness to so many. He served as an Elder at Faith Christian Center Church in Seekonk, MA, where he and his family have worshipped since 1982. He was confident that his earthly journey would end in the glory of The Lord. In addition to his beloved wife, Link is survived by his devoted daughter Ellen Mossop Saville and son in law, Wilson G. Saville II, of East Greenwich, and his son W. Lincoln Mossop III of Jamestown. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wilson G. Saville III, Spencer Church Saville, and Georgia S.B. Saville. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Nancy Mossop Wennerstrom and her three children, W. Lincoln Materna and his wife Barbara, Wendy C. Johannsen, and June W. Dales. His funeral will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Christian Center Church, 95 Sagamore Road, Seekonk, MA. Burial with military honors will be in North Burial Ground, Bristol RI. Calling hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Rescue Mission, Providence, RI.
