Robert John Sampson, (16) 79, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, November 8. Mr. Sampson retired from the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Church of the Nativity, Episcopal and a graduate of The United States Naval Academy. He loved Alabama Football, woodworking and gardening. Survivors include wife, Sherry Sampson; sons, Robert J. Sampson, Jr. (Terry) of Madison and Scott D. Sampson (Elaine) of Huntsville; daughter, Sherry Whitworth (Charles) of Madison; brother, William A. Sampson (Louise) of Michigan; grandchildren, Matthew Sampson, Kristen Sampson, David Sampson, Taylor Whitworth, Hunter Whitworth, Allison Godwin (Fred), Chase Whitworth (Lindsay), Mark Whitworth, and Chad Whitworth; great-grandchildren, Cooper Godwin and Landon Godwin. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at The Church of the Nativity, Episcopal. A Memorial Eucharist will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Mary Anne Akin officiating. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nativity, Episcopal, Hospice Family Care or the Alzheimer's Association.
