Stephen A. Soltesz, passed away on February 26, 2016 in Redlands, California (Redlands Community Hospital) of complications from a stroke. Born on January 16th 1934 in Norwalk, Connecticut. Steve was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy 10th Company. After graduating in 1955 [1956 ed.], he served in the United States Air Force for 20 1/2 years, retiring as a major working in missile defense. His tour of duties during these years included, Laughlin Air Force Base (AFB)in Del Rio, Texas, Barksdale (AFB) in Shreveport , Louisiana, Little Rock(AFB) in Arkansas, Offutt (AFB) Omaha, Nebraska, Wright-Patterson (AFB) in Fairborn, Ohio and last transfer was at Norton(AFB) in San Bernardino, Calif. Steve continued after his retirement as a civilian employed by the County of San Bernardino, California, in Special Districts until his retirement in 1989. A long time resident of Redlands, California, commencing upon his assignment to Norton Air Force Base in 1971.

Steve was very involved with the local community Footlighters Theatre as an usher and part of the construction crew. His infamous laugh and laughter was a well-loved quality that many of the cast mates truly enjoyed. He was also a member of the Redlands Loyal Knights of the Round Table. He served as President and on other committees with this organization. Steve was a devoted member of Trinity Episcopal Church since 1972 where he served on the vestry, as an usher, and other church committees. Steve is survived by his wonderful wife of almost 54 years, Lydia and his two children, Diana and Stephen, son in-law Bob, and his two adoring grandchildren Ryan and Alexis. Steve was always the "life" of the party. He was greatly loved and will be missed by so many. Memorial Services will be on Monday, March 16th at Trinity Episcopal Church at ll:30 with burial following at Riverside National Cemetery at 2pm. A reception will take place in the Parish Hall at Trinity Episcopal Church following the burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Redlands or to Wounded Warriors Project, in memory of Stephen A. Soltesz.
